Learn the story behind the artist

John Vélez

A life between canvas and mastery. With a career dating back to 1986, John Sergio Vélez is a name forged in perseverance and love for figurative painting. His story mirrors Medellín itself: in 1993, he was among the artists selected for the emblematic Northeastern Zone Artists Exhibition, a space that, from the Bosque sector, allowed him to certify his talent before the city during a time of profound cultural transformation.

That seed of an emerging artist gave way to a solid and professional career. Since 2001, John has been a fundamental part of the prestigious La Consolata Gallery, where for 25 years he has breathed the art of the great masters, perfecting his critical eye and technique. Today, through his own John Vélez Art Gallery, he continues to capture in oil his vision of realism, light, and form, establishing himself as a reference that unites gallery experience with the sensitivity of the creator.
